A Greener India......A Brighter Future

Nature is the most beautiful and bountiful gift that man has ever received. I'm sure that God must have found it difficult to part with his most prized creation, but nevertheless, has gifted it to us with great generosity. We on our part, have accepted this gift graciously, but are not making any efforts to preserve its unique beauty. “With power comes responsibility” If used mindfully, we can benefit a lot from nature’s abundant supply of treats, but with this, we also need to fulfil the immense responsibility of caring for it; and living up to God’s expectations. We have come to associate nature with the colour ‘green’. All things green-trees, bushes, shrubs, vines, creepers, moss, grass- constitute a significant part of nature. Green is a colour which soothes the mind and can pacify the most troubled of souls. People love green. Potted plants and graceful creepers adorn almost every balcony. The value of a tree cannot be measured in the amount of paper it produces, or th...

My Dream....

Everyone in this world has some or the other dream or aspiration and each wishes to fulfil them. The world is full of dreamers. To have a dream is a good thing - without a dream, there is nothing to accomplish. A vision and action can achieve even the impossible. Writing has always been my escape. When I write, I am locked out from the entire world. It is as though I enter a completely different world, one which is fully my own. It is amazing how writers can transform caffeine into words, thoughts into tales. My stories and articles may seem a bit different to some, but this does not bother me. For my pieces of writing are filled with my imagination, and the world of imagination is very vast! One can can create almost anything, and as long as it is interesting, people will fall for it. I never pictured myself sitting at a desk in an office, where there would be rows and rows of desks identical to mine and at which people who perform the same job day after day are seated. Doesn't...

Harry Potter - A Cosmos of Magic

Well, I just don't know where to begin from. My Harry Potter world is so vast and the thought behind every single minuscule detail, The Knight Bus for example, or the Animagus, is ingenious, it really is. For those of you who don't know (though I seriously doubt it), the Harry Potter series authored by J.K. Rowling, is full of magical moments and at times, dangerous situations where there seems to be no obvious escape. But this series, literally does bring magic into our ordinary, Muggle lives and it touched my heart to the very core. I could fill the pages of 7 books myself about how I felt when I read the books and watched the films and my emotions and reactions to the Harry Potter characters. To me, and I'm sure to millions of others in this world, these are not abiotic, fictitious characters but living, breathing people in flesh and bone. The concept which was truly wonderful was the Pensieve. It would be great to relive those memories that you have almost forgotten ...

Exam Fever!!

Exams! Just the word uttered and silence descends upon the crowd. Looks of nervousness and terror dawn upon each face and whispers start echoing through the room. Everyone is terrified - some afraid that they won't top this year as they usually do, some just worried about passing. Be it anywhere in the world, this is the classic Gen-Y exam scenario. 'Tension' and 'stress' are 2 words which are very closely associated with exams, so closely, that they could almost be siblings. This trio, in fact jot down very complex plans, a different one for each age and grade. Their motive is to torture the students to the very best of their abilities. Teachers and parents can either be extremely supportive or can pressurize the students to death! I understand, that exams were invented to test the students' knowledge and understanding but in almost all parts of the world, this is not the case. In fact, exams just stress the students out and force them into 'Rote Learnin...

Inspired to Try Something New.....

Today, I was just laying on my bed and something inspired me to try something new.....that is writing a poem. This is my first attempt at a poem. Hope you guys like it . So, here goes....                                                                THE  BIRD  WAY                                                               As I lay on the grass; gazing at the cloudless sky Listening to the melodious chirps of birds I happened to wonder ‘How would this world be, if it was one without birds?’ The shy and quiet mynah keeps to herself While the cheeky little sparrow is a peoples’ bird He flits in and out of windows as he pleases; and is loved by all...

An Insight into the World of Science

In a world which is literally dominated and governed by technology, the importance of the study of science cannot be overemphasized. The impact of science on mankind is tremendous. It has turned what man at one point of time thought was unachievable into possibilities. There is hardly any sphere of human activity which science has not touched.  Fortunately, science has emerged victorious in getting rid of all the myths and superstitions that have been cramming our brains. Chemistry has been taught in some depth to us in seventh grade. A part of the chapter which explained chemical changes fascinated my mind. I was a bit puzzled at first as it was not easy to retain. There were lots of formulas and equations. But I began to enjoy it once I got the hang of it.  Science has never been an easy-to-remember subject for me. I was terrified of having three sub-sections in the subject- Biology, Chemistry and Physics which would be taught to me in the later years. But I found ou...

Saare Jahaan Se Achcha, Hindustan Hamaara

Today on the auspicious event of the Indian Independence Day, I would like to express my feelings towards this great country, India, my motherland. On this day, 69 years ago, India gave birth to freedom and the world gave rise to a new nation. An Independence Day; be it of any country, gives us an opportunity to relive those moments when our ancestors cheered wildly, for they were finally free! An opportunity to express our gratitude toward the soil on which we were born, the nation whose food we eat. Patriotism does not only extend  to fighting and displaying our valour on the borders of our country, though it is a very brave way to display this fathomless emotion.  We enjoy our liberty today; and many a times, we do not remember and respect the people who fought with all their heart and might for this independence. True patriotism is when we recall the struggles and protests of our predecessors, the innumerable, immense and tragic sacrifices made by our freedom fighter...
