Exam Fever!!

Exams! Just the word uttered and silence descends upon the crowd. Looks of nervousness and terror dawn upon each face and whispers start echoing through the room. Everyone is terrified - some afraid that they won't top this year as they usually do, some just worried about passing. Be it anywhere in the world, this is the classic Gen-Y exam scenario.
'Tension' and 'stress' are 2 words which are very closely associated with exams, so closely, that they could almost be siblings. This trio, in fact jot down very complex plans, a different one for each age and grade. Their motive is to torture the students to the very best of their abilities.
Teachers and parents can either be extremely supportive or can pressurize the students to death! I understand, that exams were invented to test the students' knowledge and understanding but in almost all parts of the world, this is not the case. In fact, exams just stress the students out and force them into 'Rote Learning' The teachers' give notes and the students go home and just mug them up, irrespective of whether they comprehend them or not. However E-Learning which is a creative and interactive method of teaching and which includes animated and interesting clips based on the lessons are gradually altering the monotonous notes of teachers. Hopefully in the coming decade, a new system of education will be devised which excludes rote-learning.
Teachers and parents always urge the children to keep calm and handle exam-time coolly. Frankly, I just don't think that this is possible; not having even an ounce of tension inside us. As the exams loom nearer, butterflies start zooming around in my stomach. For most people, the nerves always start to set in when the exams are round the corner.
But in the end, life itself is an exam, set by the Almighty to test our endurance and will power and these are the qualities which really matter in the long run. Not marks, not grades nor designations but the goodness of our hearts.

Colour.

Colour breathes joy and life into every creation, whether ancient or modern. Skin tones progress from palest white and dusky wheat to darkest ebony. In the words of Rupi Kaur – ‘It is a blessing to be The colour of the Earth How often must Flowers confuse me for Home.’ A prism splits light into all of its magnificence. Stained glass windows in high-ceilinged churches make light dance across the polished wooden floor. The sun sets over the horizon and plunges within cerulean seas and oceans. Left in its wake are splashes of colour; crimson, orange and golden, skipping across the waves, cruising along the blue surf. Inky stains bleed across the sky as twilight approaches. The advent of velvety indigo, purple and black symbolize them regaining their nightly territory and thus ensues a clash of colour- a real-life watercolour over the ocean. Night tiptoes stealthily and the crescent moon glides, her creamy gossamer gown trailing and dipping into the water. It has floate...

When I Contemplate

The camera attempts to capture a moment- a fleeting second in the swirling whirlpools of time. It captures that moment and immortalizes it, framing it in eternity. Days may pass, years and even decades, but that picture will hang on the wall, making you travel back in time involuntarily. Suddenly, you will be thrust back in time and will feel as if you’re actually witnessing that moment all over again, like you did, all those years ago. It is, as if, no time has elapsed between then and now. Perhaps, that feeling is transient, but you cannot deny it.    The camera captures what the mind perceives, what the eye sees. It enables us to hold on to the image formed by the thousands of electric impulses that zoomed from the optic nerve to the brain at that second. But, more often than not, we associate many moments with an emotion. Looking at the vast, all-encompassing cerulean ocean or the towering trees in a forest, I feel an unexplainable calm and peace. I question my existe...

The All Rounder

Women- emotional, yet strong, sensitive, yet resistant, friendly, yet reserved, are one of the most marvellous creatures crafted by God, He shaped delicate shoulders, soft hands but a mind with powers undreamt and unknown. He added a generous sprinkling of sympathy, love and kindness. Well, perhaps he mixed a teeny pinch of stubbornness too! Once finished, God himself was awestruck at this exquisite creation and masterpiece in front of him.   In many villages, women are regarded as some kind of an instrument for bearing children. She is restricted to the house and cannot enjoy the luxurious life and comforts that men have. Let alone villages, even in mega cities, it is manys’ belief that it only the women who should do all the household chores. Who cares about her dreams and aspirations? Who cares about what she wants to do? Does she want to go out and work ? No, who will have the time to bother about what she wants? Family commitments overshadow it all. Despite living in the 21...
