Nature-it is such a vast world and has so much to provide to
us. The Almighty has blessed us with this priceless gift and has placed upon
our shoulders, the immense responsibility of caring for it. The trust placed
upon us humans is huge. Nature has its own unique beauty, which any man-made
thing cannot even hope to replicate. It has a wonderful spirit of joy to give
us, and if we receive it with the same cheerfulness and respect, then it is we
who will benefit.
Nature resembles the Greek Cornucopia, an abundant supply of
goodies and treats. It spews out innumerable supplies- energy from the sun,
guidance from the moonlight, shade from the trees, rain from the clouds, water
from the rivers; the list is endless.
“With great power comes great responsibility” I feel this is
rightly said! God has presented this gift to us with great generosity and
expects us to care for it and not exploit it. If handled with the utmost care
and kindness, we can profit from Nature’s treats; if not, then He has his
mysterious ways of avenging his most prized possession. I feel natural
calamities are a way through which He expresses his rage.
Today nobody bothers about the environment. Tending it has
become something of a joke. Various textbooks teach us about the different
aspects of nature, its importance and the ways in which we can save it from
being destroyed, but most of us are so very engrossed in the upgradation of our
own lives, that nobody has a moment to spare for Mother Earth.
Man is mistreating nature. Deforestation and digging up of
ponds and lakes are underway. The people managing industries and factories are
least bothered about the chemicals which are being let out into water bodies,
seeping into the ground and contaminating various life forms. Citizens boast of their
respective towns but don’t think twice while tossing a wrapper on the road.
Customers demand plastic bags for every
little thing that they buy. At this rate, our Earth will turn into a wasteland!
We do not have the right of even thinking of owning nature.
She has a spirit and independence of her own and belongs to none. We are simply
the caretakers and guardians of Nature, not her masters. We are only meant to
preserve it and are not deciders of her fate.
It is near impossible for the modern man to completely cease
utilizing these resources, for we have become dependent on them. A world
without paper to write on, wood to build houses and iron ore for industries
cannot be imagined. Even the holiest of saints cannot survive without air and
water. However, while using these gifts, we should keep in mind the essence of
Nature. Mindfully managing and utilizing these resources is essential. If
exploited, terrible consequences will follow! We must respect all forms of
life, wastage must be wiped off the face of Earth and sustainable development
should be practised.
Nature is the most beautiful gift Man will ever receive and
we must fulfill our duty of caring for it. An example must be set for the
future generations, otherwise they too will follow our lead and further damage
Nature. It is of course, easier said than done. But if all of us stand up and
make a decision, then this goal can ultimately be achieved.
Well written! A much needed eye-opener.
