Winter is all about snow, gifts and undoubtedly, Christmas! With
the fun-filled celebration around the corner, the atmosphere wears a merry,
festive and joyous look. Everybody starts gearing up for the D-Day, the 25th
of December! People bustle around, speculating the amount of work yet to be
done. Gifts start piling up in shopping carts, one for each loved one.
Christmas really is all about the spirit and joy of giving and receiving.
Decorations start filling shops and people flock in by the
dozen. Stars, festoons, lighting, candies, tinsel, you name it and they’re all
there. These ornaments do make Christmas trees magical and stunning to look
at.
Trees are set up all around town as well as in hundreds of
houses and are decorated with the brightest lighting, the shiniest festoons and
topped with the classic fairies. Holly leaves glint on every door and lush, red
berries add to the liveliness. Everybody tries their utmost to make their homes
warm and cosy by lighting inviting fires.
The presence of snow makes the whole affair ever more
exciting. Snowmen shaped by loving hands grin in backyards, their carrot-noses
almost falling off. Children are bundled up in sweaters, gloves and mufflers
and vicious snowball fights are underway! Marshmallows toast away on grills.
Today on Christmas Eve, delicious aromas will waft out
through windows, belonging to the different delicacies of a Christmas feast. At
night, people will throng into churches and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ,
who, in turn gave birth to the largest religion in the world. The air will
vibrate with the melodies of Christmas carols.
Children are by far, the most excited ones. They await gifts
which they wished for that will be brought by their beloved Santa Claus.
Tomorrow, on Christmas, thousands of them will wake up to find the gifts which
they so longed for. But shouldn't we, the blessed give a thought to those
children who live on the streets and whose parents don’t have enough money to
give their children two square meals a day? To those children, who freeze to
death? How would they feel if we give them one, small gift for Christmas, which
they equally love to celebrate? Wouldn't they feel blessed? I'm sure we would.
It is certainly something to think about.
